Welcome to ShiNE Teaching School Alliance

Our goal is simple: World class teaching and learning so that every single one of our students and teachers get to shine.

We are a partnership of schools and institutions sharing our skills, experience, talent and capacity to help improve learning and achievement in schools across North Tyneside and our surrounding area.

Browse the ShiNE Teaching School Alliance website to find out more about the alliance, our training and support and how you and your school can become part of a group that is ‘stronger together’.

The Teaching School Alliance has 3 main functions all related to ensuring pupils have the best possible education:

Initial Teacher Training
ShinNE provide a School Direct Teacher Training Programme in partnership with Northumbria University. Our trainees benefit from being placed in a range of outstanding schools across different contexts. In addition, they have the opportunity to develop their knowledge of outdoor residential learning. Miss Welsh and Mr. McConville lead our School Direct Programme and many of our teachers have come into teaching through this route. (See ShiNE website for more details)

Supporting School Improvement
ShiNE provide a range of school improvement support and have two National Leaders of Education, several Local Leaders of Education and also a large number of Specialist Leaders of Education who can provide bespoke training and support.

Continuous Professional Development
A range of conferences and learning sessions across a range of issues provided for Alliance Schools and beyond form a menu of professional development opportunities that can impact on teachers and support staff at all levels across the Teaching School and beyond.

In addition to our core offer summarised briefly above, we also support in a range of wider initiatives with partners such as the DEF, EEF and Schools North East when opportunities arise.

See our website for some of the successful activities that have taken place recently.
If you are a teacher, or someone looking to get into teaching, please get in touch via our ShiNE website or via Shiremoor Primary School.
