Physical Education
Our Vision
At Shiremoor Primary School, our vision for Physical Education is to inspire every child to embrace a healthy, active lifestyle while fostering a love for movement and physical activity. We aim to create an environment where all children feel motivated and confident to participate in PE, whether it’s for fun, fitness, or through friendly competition.
Our goal is to:
- Promote Healthy, Active Lifestyles: We are committed to encouraging all children to understand the importance of physical health and well-being, providing them with the skills and knowledge to make healthy choices both inside and outside the classroom.
- Foster Participation: We believe that every child, regardless of their ability, should have the opportunity to actively participate in PE lessons and extracurricular activities. By offering a diverse range of activities and supporting each individual, we aim to ensure that participation is high and that every child has a chance to develop their physical skills.
- Encourage Competition in a Positive Way: Through engaging and inclusive competitions, we strive to help children learn the values of teamwork, resilience, and sportsmanship. Our PE program promotes friendly competition, where success is measured not just by winning, but by personal growth, effort, and mutual respect.
- Increase Participation Rates: We aim to increase both in-school and inter-school participation rates, ensuring that children not only enjoy physical activity but also engage in opportunities to compete and represent the school in various sports.
Through these initiatives, we envisage Shiremoor Primary School as a place where physical activity is a valued and integral part of each child's daily life, helping them grow into healthy, active, and confident individuals both inside and outside the classroom. The PE and Sport Premium funding has enabled us to enhance our offer and ensure that children benefit from an outstanding PE curriculum.
